On the Original Meaning of“Hua”in Liezi

摘要 《列子》中的"化"有四层含义.在宇宙生成论的层面上说,"化"指的是"道"的"化生"以及物的"自化";从万物存在的层面来说,表现为宇宙之"大化"、物性之"革物"以及在世个体之"新陈代谢";从主体存在层面言,则体现为"与化为体"的生存方式;落实到政治的层面,对应一种"化"的生命政治学.这四个维度是层层推进的,"道"不具有意志的"化生"使得万物以"自化"的形式存在,由此便展开出一幅流动不居的、无时无刻不在运行着的大化图景,这就决定了主体需要以一种"与化为体"的生存方式与之配合;帝王"为无为"、百姓"自为"的政治模式则担保了"与化为体"的主体生存方式能切实落实到每个生命个体中. “Hua”contains four philosophical meanings in Leizi.On the generative theory of cosmology,“Hua”means the gradual change and produce of Dao and the changes of all things themselves.On the level of all things,“Hua”refers to creation and transformation of universe,the transformation of all things and individual metabolism.On the level of subject,the meanings of“Hua”is survival mode based on change.On the level of politics,“Hua”shows the theory of bio-politics.The four dimensions is advancement step by step.The produce-change ability of Dao renders all things exist on the way of“self-nurture”,so that the universe becomes the picture of the eternal movement.This means that the world shows itself through the way of change.The world expansion mode determines the change survival mode of the subject.The political mode of inaction by king and act-by-oneself by common people ensures that the subject survival mode can be practically implemented in each individual’s life.
