The Evolution of the“Preferential Treatment”Discourse in the Mainstream Media Since the Founding of the People’s Republic of China:Centered on People’s Daily

《人民日报》是中共中央委员会机关报。它不仅担负着向大众传播新闻热点的功能,同时还具有话语塑造和动员的功能。《人民日报》对于优抚的相关报道不仅体现了社会主义制度的优越性,而且改变了传统的“好男不当兵”的观念,使青壮年在“保家卫国”的高尚使命激励下踊跃参军。然而,随着时代的变迁,《人民日报》对“优抚”的话语塑造也出现了从侧重“政治话语”到侧重“经济和社会话语”的转变。

People’s Daily is an organ newspaper of the CPC Central Committee.It not only has the function of spreading news to the public,but also the function of discourse shaping and mobilization.The reports in People’s Daily about the preferential treatment not only reflect the superiority of the socialist system,but also change the traditional concept of“no good men will be soldiers”,urging young and middle-aged people to join the army actively under the noble mission of“protecting the home and defending the country”.However,with the changes of the times,the discourse of People’s Daily on“preferential treatment”has also changed from focusing on“political discourse”to“economic and social discourse”.
