Whether the relevant context determines the correct interpretation of meaning has always been a central topic in the field of linguistics.The"Minimal Semantics"proposed by Borg and other scholars aims to show that a sentence has its minimum semantic content without the consideration of context,and the minimal meaning is triggered by its syntactic structure.The proposition of"Minimal Semantics"challenges the dominant position of"Context-determinism",and further shows that there is an inherent relationship between sentences and their corresponding meanings."Minimal Semantics"further highlights the position of propositionism and broadens the scope of semantic researches by answering the questions of"Contextualism".Through the comprehensive study of"Minimal Semantics",the development of modern semantic researches can be clarified,the role of context in semantic interpretation can be explored,and better answer to the determination of semantic meanings can be figured out.
