This paper introduces the theory and methods of ship lightweighting and emerging technologies,researches on the application of new materials,and summarizes and analyzes the experience of ship structure optimization.The ship lightweight design is explained from three different dimensions for China's ship design and manufacturing enterprises.Lightweight design provides a reference and opens up ideas for high-quality development of the industry.
