《习近平谈治国理政》中典故的英译方法及对外宣翻译的启示

What Can Foreign-Oriented Publicity Translators Learn From the Successful Translation of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China?

本文通过自建英汉平行语料库与细致的文本分析,总结归纳了《习近平谈治国理政》(以下简称《习》)中典故翻译的主要方法,并在此基础上总结了《习》对外传播的成功经验。文章认为,《习》英译本中典故翻译的成功经验凝练出"中国观点、国际表达"的翻译立场、"异而化之、融而通之"的翻译理念和"因势而变、因时而新"的翻译策略;同时高水平的翻译队伍、中外专家的精诚合作以及严格的把关程序也是《习》获得对外传播的重要原因。本文的研究可以为新时代我国外宣翻译工作提供参考与借鉴,具有一定的实践指导价值。

Based on a thorough corpus-assisted textual analysis, this paper probes into the translation methods of allusions in Xi Jinping: the Governance of China and summarizes what we can learn from its success in promoting foreign-oriented publicity translation. It is held that the successful translation of the book can be attributed to the following three factors: the cultural stance of telling Chinese stories by international discourse, its source language-oriented translation philosophy and the flexible use of translation methods. Moreover, high-competence translation professionals, good cooperation between Chinese and English experts, and strict quality insurance procedures also contribute to its good reception in the English-speaking countries. Such a study is of practical value since foreign-oriented translators can benefit from its success.
