The Problem Consciousness of Studying Western Contemporary Literary Theory in China Since the New Era

新时期以来影响中国文学研究的西方当代文论大致可分为三类:第一类主张从文学的内部研究文学,注重文学的形式因素;第二类强调文学与历史、政治、权力等现实因素的关联,力图揭示并分析文学背后隐藏的压迫性力量;第三类关注文学所彰显的意义世界、所阐发的真理,强调文学与人的存在的关联。总体而言,面对西方当代文论,中国文论界并非被动地、不加区分地全盘接受,而是有着强烈的现实关怀和清晰的问题意识,有其实际的意图和思想脉络,针对中国文学研究的现状、弊病,基于对自身问题的反思,对西方文论有所选择、辨析、批评和改造。

The western contemporary literary theories that have influenced the study of Chinese literature since the new era can be roughly classified into three kinds. The first kind advocates to study literature from the inside and pays attention to the forms of literature. The second kind emphasizes the relationship between literature, history, politics, power and other realistic factors, trying to reveal and analyze the hidden oppressive force behind literature. The third kind focuses on the meaningful world and the truth that literature revealed, emphasizing the relationship between literature and human existence. In the face of a variety of western contemporary literary theories, Chinese scholars do not accept them passively or indiscriminately, but have a clear consciousness of problems. Based on reflections on their own problems,Chinese scholars try to select, distinguish, criticize and reform western contemporary literary theories.
