A pioneer in spreading and practicing communism in China,Li Dazhao was also an active promoter of the May 4th Patriotic Movement.He attached great importance to and highly praised the historical significance and role of youths.He also helped Chinese youths to form a positive and optimistic outlook on life,thus a spiritual mentor and a model for young people.His thoughts and suggested values have valuable implications for modern youths,as shown in their awakened individual consciousness of“Only I can do it”,their consciousness of“protecting China”and their realization of“the whole world being one community”.
