摘要
随着城市化进程的推进,开埠后的上海出现了一系列近代意义上的交通问题。对此,公共租界率先提出左侧通行,法租界与华界随后也相继确立了这一原则。抗日战争胜利后,大批美式汽车进入中国,但由于美国国内实行的右侧通行与当时国内道路通行方向相悖,美式汽车肇祸伤人事件常有发生。出于减少交通事故与节省改装经费的考虑,国民政府决定改左侧通行为靠右行驶,并于1946年1月1日开始正式实施,从此右侧通行成为上海市道路通行的基本准则,并一直持续至今。
With the advancement of urbanization,a series of modern traffic problems appeared in Shanghai after the opening of the port.Because of this,Shanghai International Settlement was the first to propose left-hand traffic,then the French concession and other Chinese territories subsequently followed this principle.After the victory of the War of Resistance against Japan,a large number of American cars were imported to China.Because they were produced in the United States where right-hand traffic was a rule,which was contrary to the one in China at that time,accidents and injuries were often caused by American cars.In order to reduce traffic accidents and save money on refitting,the Kuomintang government decided to adopt right-hand traffic.The new rule was officially implemented on January 1,1946.From then on,right-hand traffic has become a basic rule in Shanghai.
