Small-scale organic farms significantly contribute to rural transition and development in the new era. However, these farms are struggling for survival long after their establishment. The impacts of internal factors have been widely ignored.Through the application Lievegoed’s Organization Development Model,small-scale organic farms are treated as a type of organization with different characteristics in each phase. From the internal perspective, most of the small-scale organic farms stagnate at the unstable Pioneering Phase.More efforts should be paid to strengthen the internal standardization and institution construction, maximize the farm’s capability of production and organization, and continuously enhance the mutual trust between producers and consumers,in order to upgrade to differentiation and integration phases.
