Parametric design, as a new design concept, is widely applied in the field of architecture. Because of its experimental, research-oriented and crossborder characteristics, in the past decade, various domestic art academies and a large number of emerging digital technology research institutions have introduced it into the field of public art, and its value has been proved in the research and practice. Starting from Marc Fornes’ s parametric public installation works, this thesis expounds the generation of the concept of parametric public art in detail, so as to explore how the parametric technology and creative concept affect the design and production of public art, summarize the characteristics of parametric public art and its development in China.
