Socially Constructing Covid-19:A Health Pandemic That Shook the World

新型冠状病毒肺炎是一种社会建构的疾病。当前,各国都在探寻遏制病毒的方法,但国际间合作还非常有限。对于COVID-19这样一个涉及所有人的大流行性疾病,理当通过国际社会的合作来共同解决而非单打独斗。在这场大流行性疾病中,虽然社会工作者的角色有些模糊不清,但它依旧扮演着重要的角色。社会工作者作为建构社会关系的关键角色,在此次疫情中表现得淋漓尽致。即便社会对于社会工作者的专业形象不够重视,但社工们依旧很好地承担了支持社区、家庭以及个人的重要角色。

COVID-19 is a socially constructed disease.Currently,individual nation-states are scrambling to find ways of containing and controlling the virus with limited areas of cross-national cooperation.For COVID-19,a pandemic disease that involves everyone,it should be resolved through collective,rather than national solutions.Social workers had an important,if ambiguous role,in this pandemic.I consider why this social construction of social workers and social care workers was not undermined by their pivotal role in supporting individuals,families and communities during the pandemic to highlight their centrality in caring social relations.
