《美国经济评论》视野下的中国——以1978年以前华人经济学家的文章为中心

Impression of China from the Perspective of the American Economic Review:Based on Chinese Economists’Article before 1978

《美国经济评论》从1941年开始发表华人经济学家有关中国问题的研究,到1978年中国改革开放以前,该刊发表的有关中国学者对中国问题进行探讨的文章有17篇。本文对这些论文加以总结,试图勾勒出当时主流经济学界对中国的研究兴趣所在,同时也可以探究华人经济学家对中国问题研究的旨趣与方法。华人经济学家对中国问题的研究范式包括专题性研究和整体性研究,专题性研究分为外贸与金融业的研究、国民生产总值与国民收入的测算、统计系统的评估以及工业化情况的研究;而整体性研究分为基于历史的理论性分析和基于数据的技术性分析。华人经济学家的研究成为学界了解中国经济的重要窗口,而中国独有的经济实践也为经济理论发展提供了新的土壤。

Since 1941,the American Economic Review has published Chinese economists'papers on China's issues.Before China's Reform and Opening up in 1978,it published 17 papers on China's issues by Chinese scholars.By studying these papers,we can outline the interest of the mainstream economic circles in the study of China,and also explore the purports and methods of Chinese economists in the study of China.The research paradigms of Chinese economists on China include thematic research and holistic research.The thematic research includes the research on foreign trade and financial industry,the measurement of GNP and national income,the evaluation of statistical system,and the research on industrialization.The holistic research includes the theoretical analysis based on history and the technical analysis based on data.The research of Chinese economists has become an important perspective for the academic circle to understand Chinese economy,and the unique economic practice in China has also provided new soil for the development of economic theory.
