Trapping light in the continuum-from fantasy to reality

摘要 Trapping light without absorbing it is of great importance for both science and technology.A conventional way for trapping light is to use some kind of reflecting surface or region,namely a mirror,to forbid light escaping.Following this key concept,various optical resonators had been demonstrated,such as whispering-gallery mode cavity,photonic crystal defect cavity,micro-ring resonator,etc.
