Research on the Design-driven Disruptive Innovation Mechanism

颠覆性创新是我国后发企业实现跨越式追赶的重要路径,既有文献对于其驱动因素讨论的不充分限制了其对企业实践的指导作用。从颠覆性创新的驱动力视角出发,探究设计与颠覆性创新之间的关系及其内在作用机理。研究认为:基于“意义”维度,颠覆性创新可以划分为原有意义系统颠覆性创新和新意义系统颠覆性创新;不同类型的设计对颠覆性创新驱动机理不同,具体而言,产品功能设计通过功能—成本联动创新满足了低端和边缘市场消费者被过度服务和尚未被满足的需求,从而实现了原有意义系统颠覆性创新;而产品语义设计则通过技术—社会文化要素联动创新为消费者提供象征性和情感性价值,满足他们情感和社会文化需求,从而实现新意义系统颠覆性创新。

Disruptive innovation is an important path for China's latecomer enterprises to achieve leap-forward pursuit.The inadequate discussion of its driving factors in the existing literature has limited its guiding role in enterprises'practice.From the perspective of the driving force of disruptive innovation,the relationship between design and disruptive innovation and their internal mechanism of action were explored.According to the research,based on the"meaning"dimension,disruptive innovation can be divided into original meaning system disruptive innovation and new meaning system disruptive innovation;different types of design drive different mechanisms for disruptive innovation.Specifically,product function design has met the needs of consumers in the low-end and marginal markets who are over-serviced and unsatisfied through functional-cost linkage innovation,thus achieving the original meaningful system disruptive innovation.While product semantic design provides consumers symbolic and emotional value to meet their emotional and socio-cultural needs through technology-social cultural elements linked innovation,thus achieving new meaning system disruptive innovation.
