玩牌或打麻将对老年人认知功能的保护作用研究

The Effect of Playing Cards or Mahjong on Cognitive Functioning of the Elderly

伴随着人口老龄化进程的逐步深入,老年人认知功能议题得到了越来越多的学者的关注。玩牌或打麻将这项社会活动不仅具有智力训练的特征,同时也反映了老年人社会网络的健全程度。讨论老年人是否玩牌或打麻将变量对其认知功能的保护作用。使用中国高龄老年人健康长寿跟踪调查(CLHLS)2002—2011年数据,建立面板固定效应模型。模型结果表明,在控制了其他变量的情况下,玩牌或打麻将对老年人认知功能保护具有显著的正向作用。

With the acceleration of population aging,the issue of cognitive functions of the elderly has received attention from an increasing number of scholars.Playing cards or mahjong is not only an intellectual training social activity,but can also reflect the soundness of older people’s social network.This study attempted to explore the effect of playing cards or mahjong on cognitive functions of the elderly.A panel fixed effects model of cognitive functioning of the elderly was developed on the basis of data from Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey(CLHLS)from2002 to 2011.Results indicate that when other variables are controlled,playing cards or mahjong plays a positive role in protecting cognitive functions of the elderly.
