Architectural Anthropology at the Frontiers:A Review of the 3^rd Symposium on Architectural Anthropology

边域,即某个领域的边界、前沿。随着该领域的界定的变化,边域也构成一个多义的概念:家的边域、社区的边域、族群的边域、城乡的边域、国家的边域、时代的边域。在全球化、城市化与族群冲突共存的当代挑战下,边域成为研究聚居、认同及空间-社会变迁的前沿:理解动因、分析范式、引导路径等,是边域研究与实践关注的话题。第三届建筑人类学论坛的举办,呼吁关注时代变革,促进多学科融合以及学术界与实践界的互通,以期为一带一路、乡村振兴、城市更新、遗产保护等当下议题带来启示。

Frontier refers to the periphery of a given field.It is fluid and has various connotations with regard to the varied definitions of the field in question,such as homeland,community,ethnicity,the urban-rural,nation state,historical period,etc.Nowadays,the challenges brought by globalization,urbanization and identity politics require us to look closely at the frontier as the key to better understand issues related to dwelling,belonging,and socio-spatial changes:the understanding of motivations,the analysis of paradigms,the intervention of courses,etc.,constitute what we call frontier studies and practices.The convention of the 3rd Symposium of Architectural Anthropology thus calls for attention to the changes of the time,promoting conversations across disciplines and dialogues with both theoretical and practical innovations,so as to shed light on current issues such as Belt and Road initiative,rural revitalization,urban renewal,heritage preservation and so on.
