Palgrave Macmillan published respectively in 2017 and 2018 two monographs on Virginia Woolf’s major works from the perspective of spatial literary studies:Walking Virginia Woolf's London:An Investigation in Literary Geography and Virginia Woolf's Rooms and the Spaces of Modernity.Though they take different approaches-one maps Woolf’s fictional routes onto the Google map of London while the other focuses on all kinds of rooms, both physical and metaphorical,in Woolf’s works, they share a lot in common, especially in exploring the significance of spatiality in understanding Woolf’s writing and in the reassessment of the relationship between modernity and spatiality. Both exhibit the current academic interest in reconfiguring spaces of gender and modernity in Woolf studies.
