Based on neuroscience and brain science,American novelist Richard Powers’The Echo Maker externalizes the individuals’self cognition in the post-9/11 era by means of a"note"which comprises the ethical structure through the text.It serves not only as a driving force linking ethical knots into ethical line but also as an ethical power of transcending crisis.Thus,Powers attempts to pierce the post-9/11 ethical chaos and to construct the ethical"intersection"between the self and the other with the metaphor of"the echo maker".
