方英文的长篇小说《群山绝响》,以独特的现实主义的写作视阈,将目光锁定在中国社会底层的普通百姓身上,以全场景、全信息的“细胞生态记录”方式,描述了一幅中国20世纪70年代文革时代的社会全景图。其叙述方式、人物塑造和叙述语言都是中国传统小说的美学呈现。小说以人物互映的手法,在叙事层构上采用链式结构,语言幽默风趣、平实散淡,继承了中国古典小说的写实风格。
