In the historyof ancient Chinese music a large number of exotic drums were introduced to Central China via the Silk Road,and each of them developed differently.What were they?How were they transformed?This paper focuses on the exotic drums of the Silk Road,revealing the process and cause of their development,transformation and extinction,and discusses the fusion of the Hu and secular music in the Han and Tang dynasties.
