Objective To observe the effects of low dose glucosamine sulfate on the prevention of knee joint pain under high intensity training. Methods By the way of recruiting volunteers,268 shipboard naval personnel who were to take part in high intensity military training were chosen for the study and were randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group, each consisting of 134 subjects. The treatment group was intervened with glucosamine sulfate, while the control group was given placebo. Both before and after training,VAS scores of the knee joint were used to evaluate the naval personnel of the 2 groups. Results Before training, there was no statistical significance in the VAS scores, when comparisons were made between the 2 groups.Three months after training, the VAS scores of the treatment group significantly decreased,as compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the treatment group improved more significantly as compared with the control group(P<0.05).However,there was no statistical significance in adverse drug reactions, when comparisons were made between the 2 groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Low dose glucosamine sulfate could effectively prevent knee joint pain caused by high intensity training.
