Yan Lianke is the first Chinese Franz Kafka Prize winner.His works have been translated into more than 30 languages through the past years,drawing widespread attention from the target circles of literature,translation,criticism and media concerned.Based on the translation of his works in major Asian and Western countries,he discussed thoroughly with us on the subjects of writer’s responsibility and mission,translator’s pursuit and status,the communication and interaction between translator and writer,and the working modes of international translating and publishing businesses in the process from local creation of Chinese literature to the international dissemination and acceptance,as well as on the subjects of the overall situations of modern Chinese literature in the context of world literature together with the obstacles between modern Chinese literature and world literature.Some of his original and insightful views are thought-inspiring.
