摘要
对移动CMC(计算机中介通信)中产出的数字话语进行语体特征分析研究,具有重要的社会语言学和语言教学意义。本文旨在分析这种数字话语的句法复杂度,以评鉴移动CMC促进二语习得的潜能。本研究以35名非英语专业研究生为受试,实施基于移动CMC的英语学习论坛,从中获取数字话语语料,并以基于“二语写作句法复杂度分析工具”(Lu,2010)而设计的句法结构工具和量度工具分析其句法复杂度。研究发现,这种数字话语虽然保留着CMC特有的非规范语言特征,但将其用于二语学习目的时,呈现出规范性语言输出占主导和句法复杂度不亚于传统写作的语体特征,表明移动CMC具备促进二语习得的潜能。
Analyzing stylistic features of digital discourses in mobile computer-mediated communication(M-CMC)is of great significance for research on social linguistics and language instruction.By analyzing syntactic complexity of these digital discourses,this study aims to evaluate the potential of M-CMC in facilitating ESL learning.Thirty-five postgraduates of non-English major are chosen to be subjects in this study and required to participate in mobile learning forums to produce digital discourses needed.Syntactic complexity of these discourses is analyzed with an instrument of syntactic structures and an instrument of syntactic complexity measures,which are developed based on Lu’s(2010)Instrument of Syntactic Complexity of EFL Writing.Results show that,there are cases of improper language usage in M-CMC,just as in CMC.When applied to ESL learning tasks,however,M-CMC has the potential to facilitate ESL requirement because of its prominent output of normative language and its syntactic complexity no less complex than that of traditional writing.
