李季《社会主义史》马克思章的译介问题研究

Research on the Marx Chapter of Li Ji's A History of Socialism

作为早期传播社会主义的白话文著作,李季翻译的《社会主义史》在20世纪20年代热销一时,毛泽东同志曾将其列为影响他接受并树立马克思主义信仰的三本书之一。受20世纪中国文化需求的驱动,李季选定《社会主义史》着手翻译。该著在马克思主义专业术语的译介上兼有中国传统文化和日本文化的特点,这也是马克思主义早期传播的鲜明特色。但在一些重点词汇的译介上,李季更倾向于从汉语中选择新的对应词来取代日语词。这一方面体现了译介的发展脉络,另一方面也展现出译者将中华文化中心化的趋势。胡贻谷《泰西民法志》是克卡朴《社会主义史》的第一个中译本,与李季《社会主义史》在翻译动机与风格方面十分迥异,但在马克思的观点阐释和翻译策略方面却存在相似性。通过对两个译本的对比研究,可以进一步认识马克思主义早期译介的规律以及“归化”的翻译策略。

As a vernacular book on the spread of socialism in the early days,Li Ji’s A History of Socialismwas very popular in the 1920s.Comrade Mao Zedong listed it as one of the three books that influenced his acceptance and establishment of Marxist belief.Driven by the cultural needs of China in the last century,Li Ji selected A History of Socialism to begin translation.This book combines the characteristics of Chinese traditional culture and Japanese culture in the translation of Marxist terminology,which is also a distinctive feature of the early spread of Marxism.However,in the translation of some key vocabularies,Li Ji prefers to choose new corresponding words from Chinese to replace Japanese words.On the one hand,it reflects the development context of translation,on the other hand,it also shows the tendency of Chinese culturecentralized.Hu Yigu's Taixi Civil Law is the first Chinese translation of Kirkup's A History of Socialism,which is very different from Li Ji's,in terms of translation motives and styles,but there are similaritieson the interpretation of Marx's views and translation strategies.By comparing the two translations,we can further understand the laws of early translation of Marxism and the translation strategy of categorize.
