Debates on Postmodernism in China:Reflection and Inspiration

后现代主义在中国的批评性接受一方面给了致力于理论创新的中国批评家和文学研究者一种开阔的视野,使我们认识到世界的多元性和阐释的多种可能性;另一方面,这场讨论也使一批勤于思考、锐意创新的中国学者得以向国际学界展示自己的理论实力,从而为后来的中西文学理论的平等对话奠定了基础。留给我们的教训则是,讨论中所有的理论命题基本上都是西方理论界提出的,中国学者虽然进入了国际理论前沿,但发出的声音依然十分微弱,要想真正实现中国文学理论的国际化,我们还需要提出一些具有普适意义的理论命题,并且通过国际通用的语言在国际主流刊物或出版机构加以表达。

The critical reception of postmodernism in China,on the one hand,gives Chinese critics and literary scholars who are committed to theoretical innovation a broad vision and allows them to fully realize the world’s diversity as well as the multiple possibilities of interpretation.On the other hand,this discussion also enables a group of Chinese scholars who are active in thinking and innovation to show their theoretical strength to the global academic community,thus laying the foundation for the dialogue between Chinese and Western literary theories on an equal footing.This has shown us that virtually all theoretical propositions have basically been raised by Western theorists.Although Chinese scholars have reached the forefront of international theories,their voice is still very weak.In order to truly realize the internationalization of Chinese literary theory,it is crucial to put forward a number of theoretical propositions with universal significance,which ought to be transmitted via international journals or publishing houses in the academic lingua franca.
