Objective To explore the effect of procalcitonin detection on the condition judgment and prognosis of infantile bacterial pneumonia. Methods From January 2018 to December 2019,200 cases of pneumonia children in our hospital were selected as observation group, and 200 healthy infants were selected as control group. The serum procalcitonin, sputum procalcitonin and serum C-reactive protein levels were detected and analyzed;the antibiotic use time and hospitalization time of children with bacterial pneumonia with different procalcitonin levels were compared. Results The levels of serum procalcitonin, sputum procalcitonin and serum C-reactive protein in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The levels of serum procalcitonin and sputum procalcitonin in the bacterial pneumonia group were higher than those in the viral pneumonia group and Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia group(P<0.05).The levels of serum procalcitonin and sputum procalcitonin in the severe group were higher than those in the mild group(P<0.05).The antibiotic use time and hospitalization time in the serum procalcitonin and sputum procalcitonin<0.5 ng/mL groups were shorter than those in the serum procalcitonin and sputum procalcitonin≥0.5 ng/mL groups(P<0.05).Conclusion The detection of serum and sputum procalcitonin can sensitively reflect the occurrence, severity and prognosis of infantile bacterial pneumonia.
