国家“文化安全”语境下公示语英译中的文化自觉

Cultural Consciousness in Translating Public Language into English under the National Consciousness of"Cultural Security"

从文化意义蕴含的角度出发,可把汉语公示语分为“表层规约意义蕴含的公示语和深层文化意义蕴含的公示语”两种。当前,有些公示语翻译者缺少必需的文化自觉与自信,导致翻译话语无法展现中华传统文化的魅力,也不能准确传达信息。我们应把文化自觉与自信作为公示语翻译的一个重要文化准则。一方面,应使翻译话语符合汉文化下的语言表达习惯,把中国的语言文化作为公示语翻译的对象与来源;另一方面,要在保留汉文化特色的基础上,尽量使翻译话语贴近西方文化的特征、符合英文的表达习惯。异化翻译手段在公示语翻译中具有重要意义,通过这种翻译话语,能把汉语言文化的独特内涵展示出来、把中华优秀传统文化的精髓更好地传播出去,促进对外文化交流与合作。

From the viewpoint of cultural meaning,Chinese public signs can be divided into"public signs that do not mean cultural meaning"and"public signs containing cultural meaning".From the current situation of investigation,the translation of public signs in China lacks the necessary cultural consciousness and self-confidence.We should regard cultural consciousness and self-confidence as an important cultural criterion to standardize the translation of public signs.On the one hand,translation discourse should conform to the habit of language expression under Chinese culture,and Chinese language and culture should be regarded as the object and source of public sign translation;on the other hand,on the basis of retaining the connotation of Chinese culture,we should try our best to conform to the characteristics and habits of English cultural expression.Here,we should emphasize the significance of foreignization translation in the process of truly reproducing the unique connotation of Chinese language and culture.Through this translation discourse,we can spread the essence of Chinese traditional culture more so as to better serve the cause of peaceful development of the great powers.
