On My Long Way to Tibetology Translation——An Interview with Senior Translator Professor Xiang Hongjia

中央民族大学外语学院藏学资深翻译家向红笳教授,从事涉藏文献翻译工作30余载,翻译著作等身,为我国藏学研究、涉藏外宣工作做出了卓越的贡献。退休后,向教授仍在译海驰骋、笔耕不辍,时有新作问世,为翻译界同仁和后辈树立了楷模。本学术专访主要围绕向教授成长成才经历、如何进入藏学翻译领域,进入藏学翻译领域需要具备的基本素养以及翻译选材等问题深入展开。希望本访谈对涉藏翻译界同仁和即将进入涉藏文献和少数民族典籍翻译人士有一定的启发和借鉴作用。

The Senior translator Xiang Hongqie has been a professor of Minzu University of China.Professor Xiang has been working on Tibetology translation over thirty years and produced a number of translations which have been making a great contribution to the Tibetology studies and publicity of Tibet.Even after her retirement,she has still been working hard in the field and lately we still saw a few works published,which set an excellent example for younger generations to follow.The interview starts with the story of her life and how she entered into this area.During the talk,the author also enquired about the qualifications for a qualified translator in the field and how a good translator chooses the translating materials.The writer hopes the interview will be of good use to those working in the field or those we are willing to work in the area later.
