According to the World Economic Situation and Prospect report update launched by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs,the global economy will shrink by 3.2%for the year 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic,leaving us to face the grim reality of a severe recession of a magnitude not seen since the Great Depression in 1930.The report also projected that the gross domestic product(GDP)in developed countries will plunge to-5.0%,while the output of developing countries will shrink by 0.7%.The report also said that the years 2020 and 2021 will see approximately USD 8.5 trillion in overall losses being racked up,wiping out nearly four years of output gains.
