摘要
作为莎士比亚四大悲剧之一的《麦克白》,历来得到批评家们的重视,但我们的目光往往集中在麦克白及麦克白夫人的人物形象上。本文拟从《麦克白》第四幕第三场中突兀出现、看似与全剧无关的英格兰国王忏悔者爱德华的御触行为这一细节描述入手,结合英国王室仪式传统,比较剧中的君王与詹姆士一世,揭示出这一细节背后的政治。
As one of the most popular tragedies of Shakespeare,Macbeth attracted much attention from critics,but we usually focus our attention on the characters of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth.This paper tries to analyze its reference to the King’s evil and the royal touch of Edward the Confessor in Act 4,Scene 3,and the complex politics as reflected in this ritual tradition of English sovereigns and in the characters of Macbeth and James I in the play.
