从自强学堂看张之洞“中体西用”教育思想

摘要 张之洞一生高度重视教育实践,创办了多所学校,自强学堂是其中的典型代表。"中体西用"是张之洞结合时局提出的一个中西文化调和的改革纲领,"中学"为主,"西学"为辅,二者兼顾,不可偏废。张之洞的教育实践始终未超越"中体西用"的思维模式,是这一理念的现实体现。"中体西用"的办学理念贯穿自强学堂的办学目标、学校管理、课程设置、师资建设等层面,促进了学堂的飞速发展,开创了我国教育的新模式,推动了中国社会的近代化进程。 Zhang Zhidong attached great importance to educational practice throughout his life and founded many schools.Self-Improvement School is a typical representative among them.“Chinese Learning as Principal Part,Western Learning for Use”is a reform program for the reconciliation of Chinese and Western cultures put forward by Zhang Zhidong in combination with the current situation.Chinese Learning is the main and Western Learning is the supplement.Zhang Zhidong’s educational practice has never surpassed the thinking mode of“Chinese Learning as Principal Part,Western Learning for Use”,which is a practical embodiment of this con⁃cept.The concept of“Chinese Learning as Principal Part,Western Learning for Use”runs through the Self-im⁃provement School’s goal,management,curriculum setting,teacher construction,etc.,which has promoted the rapid development of the school,created a new model of education in China,and promoted the modernization of Chinese society.
