Textual Research on Liu Yanshi’s Works

自晚唐五代至宋代计有功编《唐诗纪事》,在此期间刘言史诗歌出现了严重散佚。自宋人洪迈辑《万首唐人绝句》至明代赵宦光、黄习远重新编定,其间未见刘言史诗歌佚作。清代刘云纷编《八刘唐人诗集》,通过李翰熙的序可知,自《全唐诗》后,未见刘言史诗歌佚作。《全唐诗》收录刘言史诗歌六十九题八十首,其中"卷首语"有歧义,语义指向不明。《奉酬》诗属于李翱作,《嘉兴社日》诗属于刘言史,非李商隐作。《广州王园寺伏日即事寄北中亲友》诗题为王言史作是讹误。刘言史的佚作《射鸭歌》与汉代祢衡《鹦鹉赋》相类似,两篇作品在依附对象、历史背景、书写形式、作者心态、艺术手法方面有相合的地方。

About Liu Yanshi’s works,there was "Notes on Tang Poetry",compiled by Ji Yougong,from the late Tang Five Dynasties to the Song Dynasty,and there was a loss of his poems during this period. Liu Yanshi’s poems had not appeared since "Ten Thousand Poems of Tang Jueju" by Hong Maiji of Song and revised by Zhao Huanguang and Huang Xiyuan of Ming. According to the preface,by Li Hanxi,of "Poetry Collection of Eight Lius in Tang" compiled by Liu Yunfen,there has been no LiuYanshi’s poems since "Poetry of Tang Dynastry". There are 80 poems of 69 themes written by Liu Yanshi where the "foreword" is ambiguous in meaning. "Appreciation" should be written by Li Ao while "The Society Day of Jiaxing" should be written by Liu Yanshi rather than Li Shangyin. It should be a wrong information that "A Message to My Relatives and Friends in the North Written in the Wangyuan Temple of Guangzhou" was written by Wang Yanshi. Liu Yanshi’s "Shooting Ducks" is similar to "The Parrots" by Mi Heng of Han Dynasty in terms of their dependents,historical backgrounds,forms,the author’s mentality,and artistic skills.
