A Brief Analysis of the Construction and the Impact of the Burma Road in the Republican Period--Perspective Based on Engineering History

滇缅公路是中国抗战史上重要的战备公路.它的修建采用人海战术,分段施工的方式进行.此公路建设经验成为西南战时公路建设的范例.滇缅公路通车后,以此为中心,陆续修筑了西康、四川、贵州等多条联络公路,并陆续进行运输机构管理、公路配套设施建设、司机技工培养等方面的工作.构筑起了西南战时公路运输网络,有力地支援了抗战.

The Burma Road is an important highway for combat readiness in the history of China’s War of Resistance against Japan. It was used subparagraph construction with huge-crowd strategy, such experience of highway construction has become the template of highway construction in southwest China during the wartime. After the Burma Road was formally opened to traffic, taking which as the center, there have been built many highways connected with Xikang, Sichuan, Guizhou in succession, and the transport organization management, the construction of highway supporting facilities, the training of drivers and technicians, and other constructions, were carried out one after another. Moreover, the transportation network of the southwest have been constructed during the wartime, which strongly support the China’s War of Resistance.
