Trust and Risks in Translation Process from Sociological Perspective:An Interview with Professor Anthony Pym

Professor Anthony Pym,an internationally renowned translation scholar,stresses that translators are coordinators of cross-cultural communications,and trust is the prerequisite for translation activities.In this interview,Professor Pym discusses trust and risks in translation.First,he points out the shortcomings of traditional western translation theories.He then focuses on how he studies translators’trust and risk-coping strategies from the perspective of the sociology of translation practice and teaching.This interview also involves risk management,machine translation,and the relationship between translation theory and practice.Professor Pym believes that translators should have more courage in dealing with risks and winning clients’trust.It is hoped that this interview is of some significance to the study of trust and risk of translation.
