李安宅与中国最早的符号学著作《意义学》

Li Anzhai and the First Book on Semiotics in China A Theory of Meaning

李安宅是中国符号学的前驱人物,河北迁西人,年轻时执教于燕京大学社会学系,是中国人类学研究的开创者,藏学的奠基者之一。1930年英国学者瑞恰慈来清华大学与燕京大学讲学并研究孟子学说,他与费孝通作为助手参与,由此接触到欧洲的符号研究,写出了《意义学》这本书。这是20世纪80年代之前中国唯一的符号学著作,有重要的历史价值。

Li Anzhai(1900-1985),a native of Qianxi,Hebei Province,was a pioneer of Chinese semiotics.He taught in the Sociology Department of Yenching University in his youth.He was also the pioneer of Chinese anthropology and one of the founders of Tibetan studies.In 1930,British scholar Ivor Armstrong Richards(1893-1979)came to teach and make research on Mencius in Tsinghua University and Yenching University.Li participated as assistant together with Fei Xiaotong(1910-2005),wherein he came into contact with the study of semiotics in Europe and wrote the book A Theory of Meaning(Yiyixue).This is the only semiotic work in China before 1980 s,which has important historical value.
