《老子》又名《道德经》,言简意赅,近似一部用韵文写成的哲理诗,堪称晚周诸子学之绝唱,从文献学角度看也是历代注疏最多的经典之一。可从"道"与"德"的内在统一性来把握老子的哲学体系,前者属于老子的形而上学,后者属于老子形而上学向生活世界的落实。"道"为宇宙万物的生命本源,其基本含义是"自然",也是一种最高的"善";"德"作为"道之用",其基本含义是"法自然",也就是"无为"。工业化、城市化、技术化已成为现代世界的基本图景,经济实用主义所带来的环境问题与生态危机,技术异化对人的控制,冷战思维及政治霸凌主义的隐忧,无不在唤醒老子"道宁天下"的建设性的后现代意义。

Laozi,also known as Tao Te Ching,concise and comprehensive,resembles a philosophical poem written in verse.Ranked as the masterpiece of the philosophers in the late Zhou Dynasty,it is also one of the classics with the most notes and commentaries in the past dynasties from the perspective of philology.The philosophical system of Laozi could be understood from the inner unity of"Dao"(or"Way")and"De"(or"Virtue").The former is Laozi’s metaphysics,and the latter is the actuality of Laozi’s metaphysics in the life world."Dao"is the source of life for all things in the universe,and its basic meaning is"naturalness,"which is also the highest"goodness";"De"is"the use of Dao,"its basic meaning being"taking naturalness(ziran)as its law,"i.e."non-action(wuwei)."Industrialization,urbanization and technicalization have become the general picture of the modern world.The environmental problems and ecological crisis brought about by economic pragmatism,the control of people by technological alienation,the hidden worries of Cold War mentality and political hegemonism,all awaken the constructive post-modern significance of Laozi’s"The Tao brings peace throughout the world."
