The necessity of shortening the protection failure time of 500 kV circuit breaker for the stability of the main grid system of China Southern Power Grid was discussed.The principle and operation logic of failure protection of Siemens 7VK611 device were introduced.The process and conclusions of the 7VK611 failure optimization test were described,as well as the significance of the results for the optimization of the failure exit delay of the important 500kV power plants in China Southern Power Grid.
