《特别响,非常近》中英封面之多模态对比分析

A Multimodal Comparative Analysis of Chinese and English Covers of Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close

小说封面由图像、文字、色彩和布局等多种模态组合而成,是凝练小说主题的多模态文学艺术,亦是纸质文学作品意义生成的重要组成部分。通过对美国作家弗尔的原版小说《特别响,非常近》与中译本的封面进行多模态对比,分析两版封面的色彩、图像和文字等呈现的模态文体特征,探讨封面多模态之间及其与文本的协同作用。结果表明,两种版本封面各有千秋,但从隐喻角度而言,英文版封面更为简洁生动,且具有深刻的内涵;而中文版封面则更直接具体,也更具写实性。因此,研究小说封面对文学批评与版本学都有重要意义。

A novel cover is composed of such modes as image,text,color and layout,which is a multimodal literary art to condense the theme,and an important part of the paper literary works in meaning.This paper makes a multimodal analysis of the cover of Extremely Loud&Incredibly Close,written by Jonathan Safran Foer,an American writer,and that of the Chinese version.It analyzes the stylistic features of the two covers in terms of color,image and text,as well as the synergies between the modes,the cover modes and the text.The results show that the two covers are of different characteristics,but metaphorically,the English cover is more concise and vivid,and has profound implication,while the Chinese one is more direct and specific,and more realistic.Therefore,the study of novel covers is of great significance to both literary criticism and book versioning.
