Establishment of Jilin Machinery Bureau fromWu Dacheng's Letters to Song Chun’ao

吉林机器局是近代东北地区最重要的军工企业。它由吴大澂牵头发起,聘请宋春鳌为总办,在巩固东北防务方面,发挥了重要作用。故宫博物院所藏吴大澂致宋春鳌信札11通,作于吉林机器局筹建期间,对丰富机器局筹建过程中的细节,多有帮助。

Jilin Machinery Bureau is the most important military enterprise in Modern Northeast China.Jilin Machinery Bureau was initiated by Wu Dacheng and hired Song Chun’ao as general manager.It played an important role in consolidating border affairs in Northeast China.The Palace Museum has collected 11 letters written by Wu Dalian to Song Chun’ao.These letters were written during the preparation of the Jilin Machinery Bureau.They are very helpful for studying various details during the establishment of the Machinery Bureau.
