摘要
近年来中国机器字幕翻译技术发展迅速,"网易见外"等字幕自动翻译平台逐步兴起。本研究运用瑞典学者彼得森构建的"FAR模型",以TED演讲为素材,对比评估了"网易见外"自动生成英译中字幕与网易公开课字幕质量。结果显示,二者之间仍存在较大差距。结合机器与人工的优势,机器字幕翻译的发展前景才更为广阔。
Recent years have witnessed the rapid development of machine translation(MT)in China,which have brought significant changes to the subtitling industry,including the appearance of automatic machine-generated subtitles.This paper uses FAR model to assess the quality of a TED talk's subtitles generated by Netease Sight,a MT platform,and compares them with human-translated subtitles.The study shows that the overall quality of machine-translated subtitles is much lower than that of those human-translated.Therefore,by maximizing advantages and minimizing disadvantages through technology development and post-editors,the future for machine-generated subtitles is still bright.
