Wars for “Talent” in Cities and Corporate Innovation

摘要 研究城市抢"人"大战对推动区域创新驱动城市发展具有重要意义。本文利用2008—2014年国家统计局的全国创新调查企业数据库数据,运用两阶段最小二乘法(2SLS)研究科技人才规模对企业创新的影响效应。研究发现:在我国,科技人才规模对企业创新存在一个约为488人的"规模阈值",并且大部分企业的科技人才规模低于"规模阈值";对于不同特征的城市,科技人才规模对企业创新的影响效应存在"对偶性";城市人口规模在科技人才规模与企业创新之间具有正向调节效应。城市抢"人"策略应与城市特征有效结合,从而推动区域创新驱动城市发展。 It is of great theoretical and practical significance for regional innovation-driven development to study the wars for talents in cities. Based on the national innovation survey enterprise database from the National Bureau of Statistics from 2008 to 2014,this paper used the two-stage least square method(2 SLS) to study the effect of sci-tech talent scale on corporate innovation. The main findings were as follows. Firstly, there was a "scale threshold" of roughly 488 people for sci-tech talent scale affecting corporate innovation in China, and the sci-tech talent scales in most enterprises were lower than the "scale threshold". Secondly, there was a"dual effect"in this influence mechanism for the cities with various features. Finally, urban population size had a significant positive moderating effect here. Therefore, we proposed that, the strategy for talents had to effectively integrate with city features, so as to promote regional innovation-driven urban development.
