吉少甫:新中国教育出版事业的奠基者和开拓者

Ji Shaofu:A Founder and Pioneer of Educational Publishing in the People’s Republic of China

吉少甫是新中国教育出版事业的奠基者和开拓者。他早年参加革命,曾主持益群出版社工作。新中国成立后,他参与筹建人民教育出版社并担任社务委员兼经理部主任。在人教社工作期间,他推动了教材租型经营制度的建立,出版印制了新中国第一部现代汉语规范字典《新华字典》,改进并规范排字制版,提议并落实铸造简化字铜模,多举措提高印制质量,建立出版管理规章制度等。20世纪50年代中期,他参与组建上海教育图片出版社和上海教育出版社,先后担任两社社长兼总编辑。晚年的吉少甫潜心研究出版史,出版了多部学术著作。

Ji Shaofu is a founder and pioneer of educational publishing in the People’s Republic of China.He participated in the revolution in his early years and presided over the work of Yiqun Press.After the founding of the People’s Republic of China,he participated in the establishment of People’s Education Press and served as a member of the cooperative affairs committee of the press and director of the management department.During his work in People’s Education Press,he helped establish a rental management system of copyright for school textbooks,published and printed the first modern Chinese standard dictionary Xinhua Dictionary in new China,improved and standardized typography,proposed and implemented the casting of the copper models of simplified characters,took multi-measures to improve the quality of printing,and established management rules and regulations of publishing.In the mid-1950s,he was involved in the formation of Shanghai Education Picture Press and Shanghai Education Press,where he served as the president and editor-in-chief.In his later years,Ji Shaofu devoted himself to the study of publishing history and published several academic works.
