Christoph Hein,one of the most important contemporary German writers,published his novel Glückskind mit Vater in 2016.Through the narration of a family story,Hein depicts a history of more than sixty years of Germany,from the World War Ⅱ till the reunification of the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic.The novel is interpreted by using the Theory of the Cultural Memory,focusing on the traumatic memories of the protagonist and the intergenerational transmission.The paper also analyzes how the Germans face the crime and sin of the older generation in the World War Ⅱ and how they construct the self-identity.
