摘要
基于较大批量材料科学SCI研究论文,本文先后采用层次聚类分析和搭配构式分析方法探究这一特定学术话语中"程度副词+形容词"构式的范畴关系及主要型式之间的语义和功能差异。聚类分析显示,这一构式大体呈现13类主要型式以及多层级、多核心的范畴关系。具体而言,以mainly为代表的绝大多数程度副词以及almost和nearly分别呈现强聚合趋势,所搭配的形容词均相对较为集中、固定,凸显了特定学术话语中程度意义构建的规约性和交际性。除此之外,其余11个程度副词如much,relatively,very和highly呈现弱聚类,构成相对独立的构式型式,体现了学术话语相较于通用话语而言对于程度意义识解的普遍性和一致性。但是,搭配构式分析表明,与这些程度副词特异共现的形容词又进一步指向学术话语的命题意义和交际功能。
This paper aims to explore the categorization of"degree modifier+ADJ"collostruction in academic discourses based on a large-batch of Materials Science SCI research articles.Hierarchical cluster analysis was first conducted to extract the pri-marycateg ories of the collostruction,and then collostructional analysis was carried out to further identify their semantic and func tionaldifferences.Cluster analysis shows that 13 categories could be sorted out according to the clustering strength of de-greem odifiers as a whole.To be specific,the majority of degree modifiers with mainly as a typical example tend to cluster to-gethersignificantly,whichcollocate h relatively limited adjective types and reveal the social norms underlying specific aca-de mic discourses.Additionally,witalmost and nearly present the similar clustering and collocation pattern.On the contrary,due tothelack of statistical clustering significance,the rest 11 degree adverbs,such as much,relatively,very,and highly,could beregarded as distinct collostructio nal categories,indicating the universality and consistency of degree construal between aca-demic and general discourses.Theco-selected adjectives identified by the collostructional analysis,however,notably reflect the propositional meaning and communicative functions of academic discourses.
