The main motivation of Greece joining the European Community can be concluded in sense of belonging of western culture, the need for long-term stability of national democracy, the requirement of modernization of economic structure and the strategic choice of national security; On the other hand,West Germany, based on its own economic interests and the strategic need of the United States to curb the spread of communism to South-Eastern Europe, used its influence in the European Community to actively promote the negotiation process of Greece’s accession to the European Community;Based on its own political and military strategy, the need to develop Europe’s free trade system and its emphasis on democratic values, the European Community finally accepted Greece as a member of the European Community; However, the national situation of Greece, the purpose of accession and the particularity of the accession process make the European Community face new challenges to solve the economic difficulties of Greece,Cyprus and Aegean problems.
