We developed a novel wastecan of medical waste for disposing syringe needles and evaluated its application effect. The differences of performance, use situation of nurse, average time of retreatment and the satisfaction of nurse between common wastecan of medical waste and that could dispose syringe needles were compared. Self-made questionnaires were used to collect the application effects of the two kinds of wastecan of medical waste, and the results indicated that the performance, use evaluation of nurse, average time of retreatment and the satisfaction of nurse of wastecan of medical waste that could dispose syringe needle were significantly better than those of common wastecan of medical waste. And the feedback of nurses indicated that this kind of wastecan was convenient in operation, and it was more safe and simple in retreatment. Therefore, this wastecan has a series of advantages includes convenient using, favorable performance, preventing puncture, leakage-proof and it can contain various types of syringe needles. At the same time, it can effectively avoid puncture from syringe needle, and it has better safety and convenience.
