Artificial language in second language acquisition research:The current situation and prospect

人工语言凭借可控性强、时效性好和灵活性高等特点能够有效解决二语习得研究中的纵向跟踪和变量控制问题,为二语研究中长期存在的争议提供了全新的研究视角和方法。本文梳理和归纳了人工语言的基本类型及发展脉络,着重介绍人工语言在二语习得研究中的应用,阐明学界对该方法的论辩及其适用性。文章最后就未来人工语言的发展以及如何深化人工语言在二语习得研究中的应用提出建议。

Artificial language effectively solves the problem of longitudinal tracking and variable control in second language acquisition(SLA)research by virtue of its strong controllability,good timeliness and high flexibility,thus providing a new perspective and method for the long-standing debates in SLA research.This paper combs through and summarizes the basic categories and development of artificial language.It elaborates on the application of artificial language in SLA research,with a discussion on the controversy as well as applicability of the method.Finally,the paper puts forward some suggestions on the future development of artificial language and its further application in SLA research.
