Mangtuan,a village in Mengding,a town in Southwest China’s Yunnan Province,is renowned for its thick,strong handmade paper.Mangtuan’s Dai residents have continued to use traditional methods to make paper.The papermaking craft of Dai and Naxi people is commonly referred to as the"living fossil of the historical development and cultural heritage of China’s papermaking."In 2006,China added the craft to the list of the country’s items of intangible cultural heritage.Ai Ye,an ethnic Dai resident of Mangtuan,has innovated the traditional papermaking craft by adding flowers and leaves to the pulp used to make the paper.
傣族、纳西族的手工造纸技艺,被称为中国造纸术“文化传承与发展的民间活化石”,2006年被列入第一批国家级非物质文化遗产名录。来自云南省临沧市耿马傣族仮族自治县孟定镇芒团村的傣族姑娘艾叶大胆创新,将花朵、树叶融入古老的造纸技艺,做出了“花草纸”,并带动当地妇女就业致富。
