The Promotion of Socialist Modernization: the Fundamental Pursuit of Contemporary Education in China An Elaboration on Sun Xiting’s Educational Values

孙先生以马克思主义理论为指导,坚持从国家建设的整体层面出发,与时俱进,为教育价值观问题的研究、探讨、传播和教育实践的发展做出了重要贡献。孙先生提出教育价值观问题是宏观上对教育功效的评价,客观地反映着历史的存在;针对我国历史发展,实现教育价值观的转变是社会主义现代化建设的客观要求;全面提高民族素质、重视教育的文化价值是实现教育价值观转变的根本保证,从而巩固与发展一定的社会制度。

Under the guidance of Marxist theory, Prof. Sun adheres to making research from the perspective of whole national construction so as to keep abreast with the times, and he makes an essential contribution to the study, discussion and communication of educational value issues, and to the development of educational practice. Sun presents that the educational value issue is a macroscopic evaluation of educational efficacy, which objectively reflects the historical existence. Historically, it is an objective requirement of socialist modernization to realize the transformation of educational values. Meanwhile, to completely improve national quality and attach importance to cultural value for education is the fundamental guarantee to realize the transformation of educational values. In this way, consolidation and development of the social system can be achieved.
