阮元《四库未收书提要》平议

Comments on Ruan Yuan’s Summary of Unreceived Books in Siku

《四库未收书提要》173篇,阮元在鲍廷博、何元锡、严杰等人襄助下撰成。阮元等人广搜秘本,补苴《四库》,查考典籍,撰作提要,详述版本,明各书源流。然而此书又存在收书不当、分类杂乱、体例不一、考辨不周等缺陷。阮亨《瀛舟笔谈》著录105篇提要,虽《资治通鉴释文三十卷提要》一篇为《四库未收书提要》所无,然后者内容更丰富。《宛委别藏》中存有阮元原进呈折片117折,与《四库未收书提要》《瀛舟笔谈》据原稿誊录的多有不同,值得关注。

Summary of Unreceived Books in Siku includes 173 items,it was compiled by Ruan Yuan with the help of Bao Tingbo,He Yuanxi,Yan Jie and others.They searched for the secrete copies to supplement the Siku collections,studied the origin,editions and spreading of these texts,as well as wrote summary for each of them.However,there are some defects in this book,such as improper collection,disorganized classification,different styles,and poor examination etc.Ruan Heng’s Ying Zhou Bi Tan recorded 105 summaries which are richer in contents albeit one item is not among those included in Summary of Unreceived Books in Siku.In addition,Wei Wan Bie Cang includes 117 of Ruan Yuan’s original memorials for presenting these books,which have quite some differences compared to both Summary of Unreceived Books in Siku and Wei Wan Bie Cang,thus worth paying attention to.
